Welcome to Kings Heath Primary School
Kings Heath Primary School is a happy, ambitious school where children feel safe, valued and ready to learn. Warm relationships, high expectations and a strong sense of belonging underpin everything we do. Our committed, caring and skilled staff create an environment where children can express themselves, discover their strengths and grow in confidence.
My name is Mark Court and, as Headteacher, I am very proud to welcome you to our school.
Our mission statement, ‘Nurturing Ambition, Achievement, Respect and Happiness’, is at the heart of our school and community. We want every child to become Confident, Curious and Caring, with the knowledge, skills and self-belief to succeed at school and beyond.
Situated in south Birmingham, Kings Heath is a large primary school with a wonderfully diverse community. Inclusion is central to our ethos: every child matters, every child belongs and every child deserves to achieve. We are ambitious for all our pupils, particularly those facing barriers to learning or participation. We recognise that children need different kinds of support and deliberately provide the care, challenge and opportunities that help each child flourish.
We offer an ambitious, broad and creative curriculum, brought to life through high-quality teaching. Learning builds carefully over time, helping children develop secure knowledge, make connections and apply their understanding with increasing independence. We celebrate each child as an individual, nurturing their talents and opening doors to new interests, experiences and possibilities.
Reading sits at the heart of our curriculum. We want children to discover the pleasure of books, become confident, fluent readers and develop a love of reading that lasts a lifetime. Alongside this, we help pupils become articulate communicators who can share ideas, listen thoughtfully and speak with confidence.

Work hard, play harder!
At Kings Heath, we take both learning and play seriously. Our rich play opportunities give children the freedom to explore, create, collaborate and solve problems. Through our OPAL approach, children build dens, invent games, take on challenges and enjoy being active together. Play is an essential part of childhood and a powerful contributor to wellbeing, friendships, resilience and independence.
Our commitment to personal development reaches beyond the classroom. Trips, visitors, music, sport, clubs and leadership opportunities broaden children’s horizons and help them discover what they enjoy and what they can achieve. We work to ensure that all pupils can participate fully in the wider life of the school.
We are proud of our community and challenge discrimination and prejudice in all their forms. Our curriculum reflects the backgrounds and experiences of our pupils while helping them understand and appreciate the wider world. We encourage children to respect others, value difference and recognise the positive contribution they can make.
We are pleased that Ofsted has recognised the strength of our relationships, describing the ‘very warm relationships in all classes’ which ‘encourage and develop pupils’ confidence and enjoyment of learning’. These relationships remain at the heart of our school.
Strong partnerships with parents and carers are vital. By working together, listening to one another and celebrating children’s achievements, we can provide the best possible education and care for every pupil.
