Safeguarding
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
At Kings Heath Primary School, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We want every child to feel safe, valued and listened to. Children’s welfare and best interests are at the heart of our decisions.
We are committed to:
-
Creating a welcoming environment where children can learn, play and thrive.
-
Listening carefully to children and taking their worries seriously.
-
Responding promptly to concerns about abuse, neglect or exploitation, including harm at home, in the community and online.
-
Working with families and other agencies to provide help when difficulties first arise.
-
Helping children understand safety, healthy relationships and how to seek support.
Our safeguarding arrangements are guided by Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026, national statutory guidance and local safeguarding procedures.
Our Safeguarding Team
Our trained safeguarding team leads and supports safeguarding across the school.

A Culture of Safety
We expect all adults working in or visiting our school to put children’s welfare first.
We use safer recruitment procedures and appropriate checks for staff and volunteers. Staff receive safeguarding training and regular updates, and are expected to report concerns promptly, including concerns about adults’ conduct.
We teach children about staying safe, including online, and maintain appropriate filtering and monitoring arrangements for school technology.
We challenge bullying, racism, discrimination, sexual harassment and other harmful behaviour between children. We recognise that some children may need additional support to communicate their worries or access help.
Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Do not wait for a response from school.

You do not need proof to share a worry. Please contact us as soon as possible so that we can consider the appropriate support or action.

If you are worried about an adult working in school
Concerns about a member of staff, supply teacher, volunteer or contractor should be reported directly to Mr Court, Headteacher, on 0121 464 9202. This includes behaviour that makes you uncomfortable, even if you are unsure how serious it is.
If the concern relates to the Headteacher, contact the Chair of Governors. The school office can provide the Chair’s contact details; you do not need to discuss the concern with the Headteacher.
If you are concerned about safeguarding arrangements
Please contact Mr Clabon or Mr Court through the school office.
We handle safeguarding information sensitively and share it with those who need it to help protect a child. We cannot promise complete confidentiality where a child’s safety or welfare may be at risk.
